Established in 2010, El Campo (formerly Pillow Talk) has released a 7-inch EP, appeared as official artists at both CMJ and SXSW, and provided opening support for Mayer Hawthorne, This Will Destroy You, Best Coast, Parenthetical Girls, Merchandise, and Chelsea Light Moving.
Their full-length album, recorded at Top Hat (Calexico, The Sword, and Gov’t Mule) and The Wonder Chamber (Okkervil River, Miami Horror) in Austin, is due out by year’s end/early next year. It is mixed by Lucas Oswald (Shearwater, Old Canes). Two of these songs will be available on their 7" release through Punctum Records.
Half the band lives in San Antonio, half in Austin. They do most of their serious drinking in Austin. They're proud of Texas. They're proud of tacos. They'll play your town, if you’ll have them.
Jerid Reed Morris sings and writes the songs and plays a little guitar. Zalm Almaguer plays banjo and guitar. Nick Richman plays pedal steel and sings. Jesse Basham plays bass. Rodolfo Villarreal plays drums and sings.
